Just what is tapioca anyway? Who invented it? Who decided it would be good to eat? Who decided to cook up some ginormous tapioca balls, put them in a beverage and call it bubble tea?
Granny Clampett?
Mayra had Bubble Tea at a juice bar in Inner Harbor Baltimore, so me being the genius that I am, I go and buy a bubble tea kit so we can make some at home.
It should have been a neato tasty treat, but it turned out to be an ooey-gooey mess.
Well it wasn't a total disaster, Mayra liked it well enough.
My biggest problem was that I had never seen tapioca before unless it was already in pudding form. The instructions were somewhat unclear, and told you how to cook it in a rice cooker, but I was not convinced that my rice cooker would even do that, so I threw caution to the wind and attempted it stove top.
It wasn't too bad, but I tried to save the unused portion to make more bubble tea this morning, and it was hopelessly stuck together.
