I was beginning to worry about the fact that Mayra thinks when you go to the store you whip out the plastic to get anything you feel like picking up. This is my fault of course, because that's how I do things. I rarely carry cash.
Mayra can impersonate me to perfection, swiping and signing, it's almost scary.
At the new house I had the luxury of putting Mayra's crib in the third bedroom, and her "big girl" furniture in the second bedroom, then waiting until she was ready to sleep in her big girl room.
A month or two, or three, later it was time to take down the crib. Not knowing what to do with the third bedroom, and not having much money to spend, I finally decided it could be a yoga/meditation room. The prior owners had painted the room ina two-tone green color scheme that I could live without. But I would never get the job done if I tried to paint it myself, and don't have the funds available to hire the painter. So I bought some green curtains and decided to make do. Then I discovered that I had an area rug that doesn't clash. Add the chinese clothing rack leftover from the yoga studio, some pictures that had been living in the hall closet for six months, and my buddhas, and we end up with what Mayra calls "the quiet room."
Last night at bedtime, Mayra insists she wants to look at the quiet room, I agree and she goes in and looks around. There are two or three brass bells and some tingsha on the table, so she tries them all out. Then she says now I need to ring the bells again, and when she was finished she was ready for bed.
Guess you had to be there, it was cute, take my word for it.
So if I'm a bad influence with my credit cards perhaps I can be a better influence by creating a quiet space in our home.
Time will tell.
