I've been wondering lately if I go overboard in letting Mayra make her own choices, because sometimes it is like pulling teeth to get her to decide anything, then she'll change her mind in about five seconds anyway. I've been trying to give her less choices, but still ask for her agreement on things, and things have been improving at home.
Kindergarten is proudly saying this is the third week of school. Hmmm. First week was 3 days, second week was 3 1/2 days. This is the first 5 day week. My kid is happy, and she eats her lunch, life doesn't get much better than that, so I'm pleased overall.
Yesterday, no parents or students were in the classroom when I went to pick Mayra up, so I head towards her cubby to collect her things before heading to the playground to pick her up.
Lead teacher siezes on the opportunity to let me know they have been working with her on her journal. ( they teach handwriting without tears, and kid writing) She was complimentary in that Mayra loves to write, and she seems to think she has lots of ideas, But then she goes on to say that Mayra has so many ideas, she has difficulty deciding what to write about, then she ends up writing about the same thing "all the time." All the time? on only her 8th full school day?
Wow, I don't remember having this sort of pressure in kindergarten.
