I'm pleased to say our backyard locavore experiment is coming along. We should have strawberries, blueberries and grapes this summer, as well as tomatos, peppers, lettuce, and brocolli. The previous owners had planted fruit trees, so we also have peaches and pears. There is also one apple tree, but I don't know whether or not it is self-pollinating.
We had a busy, busy weekend. Mayra's riding lesson was Friday after work instead of Saturday, so Mayra, Mom and I spent the night at Chestertown. Dad was in Tennessee to spend Mother's Day weekend with Grandma. Saturday Mayra had a neighborhood birthday party. On the way home from Chestertown we had breakfast at Friendly's, and Mayra got her nails done before the party, very cute blue sparkly polish and flower designs. After the party we went to Fridays for dinner, nothing like a no-cooking Saturday.
Sunday morning Mayra gets out of bed and presents me with a gift she chose herself, a dolphin picture she drew for me, and a card she made at school.
Don't ask how I came up with such a brilliant idea, but we went to Adventure Aquarium on a holiday. Surely I'm either stupid or nuts. It was very crowded, but we had a pretty good time. We didn't stay as long as we normally would.
We had pizza for dinner, and will go out to eat sometime when Dad is home to join us.
I had a really great Mother's Day capped off with my daughter telling me I'm the best Mommy ever before bed.
