Mayra has been going to riding class on and off for about a year.
I should qualify "riding class", because she has always had a handler or instructor leading the pony with a lead line, and she wasn't really big enough to learn how to use the reins, or to control the pony. But she loves animals, and was having fun, so off we went.
Today the handler disconnected thelead line for part of her class. She was still walking with them, and if Mayra was having trouble with something she was within arm'sreach to help, but it was quite the sight to see my barely four year old daughter riding a pony on her own.
