Tonight Mayra wanted to know what prayers are. Egad. My family was never overly religious, I never really had to say bedtime prayers, so I never got into the habit. I tried to explain it, but she was ready to change the topic pretty quick.
By the time we got upstairs she had rhino poop on her mind, and it took several minutes for her to spit out her thoughts on that topic. She keeps seeing commercials for some survivor-esque kids program that shows the kids shovelling up piles of rhino poo. Mayra is concerned that if a rhino poops on the sidewalk here in our neighborhood, a kid could ride their bike in it and get stuck.
Before I got out the door I was telling her to get a good night's sleep, because tomorrow is a big day. She looks at me quite brightly and says, after I go to sleep are you going to put out presents? Sly kid. I remind her that if she doesn't go to sleep there will be no time to put out presents.
I did a favor for a friend this week. She's helping with a bridal shower for her future daughter in law. She plans on putting out bride and groom rubber ducks for table favors, and wanted a little tag made up with a poem the attach to the duckies. I hope Mayra has great friends whe she is old enough for that sort of thing, because I seriously wasn't digging the whole ordeal. It was nice that my friend let me help her out with something though. I typed the poem onto sticky labels, then cut cardstock to the size of the tag and put the stickers on. I drew the line at tying ribbon though.
