slacker enabler Mom

True to form I did not have the camera ready for Easter pics. This seems to define my parenting style.
I honestly just don't dig holidays. I had ordered Mayra a hollow chocolate egg that had mini dinosaurs inside. I also spotted a cute personalized bucket of toys that I could order over the phone.
Here's a hint:
If you're going to order holiday items via phone or internet, it helps to actually open the box and inspect said items before it's time to put them out. The bucket in and of itself was cute enough, they spelled Mayra's name right and everything. The contents? Meh. I knew I was safe with the dinosaur egg, nothing like combining chocolate and dinos to make my kid happy.
I put the stuff where Mayra would see it first thing in the morning. For good measure, I raided my stash of birthday goodies and added a plush Chomper toy.
Mayra comes downstairs Easter morning, spots the goodies right away. (She doesn't miss anything) Much to my disappointment and chagrin, the dino egg was cracked. To add insult to injury, the mini dino candies inside were also cracked. Not really the effect I was hoping for. Mayra grabs the chocolate and starts munching down on it like she hadn't had food for three days. I seem to have a chocoholic on my hands.
The toy bucket had a couple of inexpensive toys, and was mostly filled with purple tissue paper and shredded paper. Lucky for me, one of the toys was a flashlight. Mayra loves flashlights. Being the sunny little optimist that she is, Mayra put one of her toys in the bucket and replaced the filler because she was waiting for the egg to hatch.
She wanted to play in the basement, but it was such a nice sunny day, I persuaded her that it would be fun for her to ride her trike to the neighborhood playground. While she was getting ready, I dashed to the car, got the candy-filled eggs that we didn't use for her daycare Easter party, flung them around the front flowerbeds, and voila, 30 seconds to an Easter egg hunt. Mayra liked finding the eggs, but she was just getting started when there were no more eggs to be found.
We got the trike out and set off for the playground. I had bought her a Kettler trike for Xmas 2007, and she is just now big enough to pedal and steer all at the same time. When she got it last year, Dad had assembled it for the smallest child possible. This weekend we had to extend it a bit. My baby is growing up.
