When I used to go to Satsang, Bharatji used to say that it didn't matter if you didn't understand the sanskrit chants, that the syllables had a vibrational quality and God/your soul would understand.
lately I've been listening to Deva Premal. Last night I thought my ears were deceiving me when it seemed Mayra was attempting to hum along with the Gayatri Mantra. I switched to a different track, and sure enough I get "Mommy I wanted to sing that..."
This is so cute, I'm in a state of wonder that my child is being affected by such an auspicious chant. Just about the time we get to our exit, Mayra starts laughing, and repeating
KUM BAY YAH
KUM BAY YAH
KUM BAY YAH.
