I just finished reading Animal, Vegatable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. I'm probably summarizing it weakly, but her family moved onto a farm and spent a full 12 months eating locally produced food nearly 100% of the time. The did a lot of gardening and canning, raised chickens for eggs and poultry, raised turkeys to eat, etc. Sounds like a great concept, but not realistically doable for me. I do try to enjoy local produce to the max when it is available.
So what would Barbara think if she saw my recent impulse grocery store find?
Ready to bake cookies? What ar these things anyway? Where do they come from? Maybe I should have read the label.
Mayra loves to help with kitchen stuff. heck, she loves to help with anything, she's such a precious kid.
Here's our yummy Halloween shapes cookies, Mayra did most of the frosting herself.
